Also known as Sideritis, A special and tasty plant from the mountains of Greece. There are over 20 sub-types that can have sweeter or somewhat smoky savory flavors. It has been used for generations as a traditional cure when people get sick from cold and flu. Iced or hot - straight or with honey or fruit - more Americans need to try this.
Anecdotally, we have found the people of Greece consider Sideritis as “medicine” and boil the plant for extended periods and take it with sugar. At The Workshop we suggest slightly off boiling, and for shorter periods to produce a sweeter more layered flavor.
Our current Greek Mountain at The Workshop is from outside of a city called Thessaloníki in northwest Greece.
