Grown by farmer Jun Watanabe at Deai Nouen farm in Shizuoka, Japan, this rare Japanese Oolong features an exceptional blend of six cultivars from the farm's spring harvest. Creating this tea demands a high level of skill and expertise as individual cultivars must be carefully selected to create a complex and layered final tea. This unique combination of cultivars gives the tea a rich, thick mouthfeel, with tasting notes of apricot and jasmine-like florals. It is a tea you can enjoy in the warmth of Spring or the cold of winter that is reminiscent of a high-mountain taiwanese oolong.

The farmer, Jun Watanabe, is known for his innovative farming techniques, being one of the first in Shizuoka to grind tea leaves—a practice that contributed to the region's fame for producing matcha. He was also an early adopter of solar panels, using them both to generate power and to provide shade for his tea plants. His pioneering spirit earned him the local nickname, "The Penguin."

The farm Deai Nouen, established in 1921, is nestled in the semi-mountainous area of Shimada, in the south of Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The farm benefits from the ideal humidity created by mountain mist, making it a perfect environment for cultivating tea.
